Biography of Maya Vivek: Founder and CEO of HolyWaste- Entrepreneur
A Journey of Maya Vivek
Maya Vivek’s entrepreneurial journey began after nearly two
decades in the logistics industry. Having served as an international freight
forwarder, she decided to pivot her career towards social entrepreneurship.
This shift was inspired by her desire to create a meaningful impact on the
environment and her community. Today, she stands as the founder of Oorvi
Sustainable Concepts Pvt Ltd, where her vision for sustainability comes to
life.
Founding Oorvi Sustainable Concepts
In 2019, Maya established Oorvi Sustainable Concepts, a
company focused on engaging in activities that create social value while
sustaining the environment. Her commitment to sustainability is evident in her
flagship initiative, HolyWaste, which aims to rejuvenate floral waste in Hyderabad.
This innovative project addresses the issue of floral waste disposal while
transforming it into useful products, thereby contributing to a cleaner,
greener city.
The HolyWaste Initiative
HolyWaste is a unique floral waste management program that
collects flowers discarded from temples, ceremonies, and events. Through a
process Maya affectionately calls “FloRejuvenation,” the company transforms
this waste into valuable products like incense sticks, soaps, and compost. This
initiative not only minimizes waste but also promotes a sustainable circular
economy, providing both environmental and social benefits.
Innovative Products with a Purpose
Among HolyWaste’s offerings is VIMOKSH, a line of
charcoal-free incense sticks that emit less smoke and ash. These sticks are
infused with natural oils, creating soothing fragrances that enhance the
ambience of any space. Another product, Anandha, is a bamboo-free dhoop that
also boasts a long-lasting fragrance, showcasing Maya's commitment to
eco-friendly alternatives in the wellness market.
Crafting Sustainable Soaps and Compost
HolyWaste also produces PETALS, handcrafted soaps that are
paraben and chemical-free, ensuring that users can enjoy a pure and natural
bathing experience. Additionally, they create BHOOMIJA, nutrient-rich compost
made from floral discards. This compost is in high demand, taking 45 to 60 days
to produce but offering immense benefits for gardening and agriculture, thus
closing the loop on waste management.
