Biography of Deepthi Nathala: Founder and CEO of Hecoll- Entrepreneur
Journey of Deepthi Nathala
Deepthi
Nathala is the founder and CEO of Hecoll, a pioneering brand in sustainable
fashion. Known for her innovative approach, Deepthi focuses on creating
eco-friendly clothing made from recycled and organic materials. Her journey
into the world of sustainable fashion began with a personal experience: her
family faced skin issues due to the harsh chemicals used in conventional fabric
production.
The Spark
of Inspiration
The idea
for Hecoll was born out of necessity. After returning to Hyderabad in late
2018, Deepthi experienced discomfort from the city's pollution and intense sun
exposure. Suffering from headaches and skin irritation during her commutes, she
recognized the need for protective clothing. Observing women use dupattas and
handkerchiefs for protection, she realized that existing materials offered
little to no real safeguard against pollution and harmful UV rays.
Researching
a Solution
Deepthi, a
trained nanotechnologist with a degree from the Indian Institute of
Technology-Madras (IIT-M), began testing market dupattas and handkerchiefs. She
discovered that these products provided only 10% to 15% protection from
pollution and UV rays. Moreover, traditional solutions like hand sanitizers and
N95 masks generated significant plastic waste. This motivated her to develop a
better alternative that could also serve as a mask or face cover.
Development
of Hecoll Fabric
After
months of dedicated research, Deepthi created Hecoll, which stands for
"Healthy Cover For All." This innovative fabric blocks 99% of UV
rays, filters 95% of pollutants, and neutralizes viruses and bacteria upon
contact. Hecoll is made from eco-friendly cotton and incorporates “bodyguard
molecules,” designed to fill the fabric's voids and enhance its protective
qualities against harmful elements.
The Power
of Bodyguard Molecules
The
"bodyguard molecules" in Hecoll fabric come from three sources: plant
extracts like turmeric and neem, metal components such as nanosilver and nano
copper, and specific chemical compositions created through nanotechnology. Each
of these elements contributes to the fabric's effectiveness in filtering out
pollutants and protecting against various viruses and bacteria.
Versatile
Product Line
Hecoll
fabric is used to create a wide range of products, including antiviral face
masks, children's headgear, baby wraps, and hospital gowns. These items can be
purchased through major online platforms like Amazon and Flipkart, as well as
the company’s own website. Hecoll has also been recognized by several state
governments for its effective face masks.

Eco-Friendly
Commitment
A standout
feature of Hecoll is its eco-friendliness. The fabric is designed to decompose
within 14 weeks, addressing concerns about waste generated by disposable masks
and PPEs. Unlike traditional options, Hecoll products can be safely mixed with
organic waste, contributing to a more sustainable environment.
Personal
Challenges and Growth
Before
founding Dibbu Solutions in 2019, Deepthi faced personal and professional
challenges, including the loss of her mother at a young age. She navigated a
decade-long career in multinational companies but often felt unfulfilled. Her
travels across 23 countries and interactions with diverse cultures eventually
fueled her passion for creating a meaningful product that could combat
pollution and health issues in India.
Embracing
Diversity in Employment
Deepthi is
committed to inclusivity in her business. Hecoll actively employs women,
particularly housewives and members of the LGBTQ+ community. This decision
stems from her desire to empower those who often face discrimination and to
create a supportive work environment that promotes diversity and well-being.
Prioritizing
Mental Health
Hecoll’s
workplace culture emphasizes mental health and employee welfare. Deepthi
ensures that her team receives training not only in technical skills but also
in conflict resolution and stress management. By incorporating mental health
assessments, she aims to create a holistic work environment where employees
feel valued and supported.
Looking
Ahead: Expansion and Innovation
As Hecoll
continues to grow, Deepthi is focused on expanding her product line and
increasing market presence. The venture is currently being incubated by the
Telangana State government, and Deepthi plans to seek funding from venture
capitalists to scale operations. Long-term, she aims to export products to
international markets, where quality is prioritized over price.
Conclusion:
A Vision for Change
Deepthi
Nathala’s journey with Hecoll is a powerful testament to the impact of
innovative thinking and social responsibility. By creating a fabric that
addresses health and environmental challenges, she is not only providing
solutions but also fostering inclusivity and empowerment. Through Hecoll,
Deepthi is redefining safety and sustainability in the fashion industry,
proving that business can be a force for good in society.
